Basketball:
The games are on every Monday. The first season (Terms 1 and 2) is set to start on Monday 4, March, with games
taking place at the Eventfinda Stadium (previously North Shore Events Centre), AUT, Massey University and Rosmini
Old Gym between 3.50 pm and 9 pm.
Trials:
Trials are scheduled for Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 9 in the MBIS gym. Trials are from 8:50 - 3:00. We
will share more information closer to the days. Students will need to wear their MBIS P.E. uniform.
Fees:
Basketball is $260 for the year (seasons 1 and 2). This is due before the first game Monday 4 March. You will find
Basketball in Kindo under the Sport option or use this link.
Any questions about Kindo please email: [email protected]. Otherwise please come to school to arrange payment. Payment is required to register for a basketball team. Please contact our Principal, Melinda Bennett, if you wish to discuss the payment of this fee - [email protected].
Coaches/Managers:
In order for teams to take the court, we will need to call on parents/older siblings or people you know to help in the form of coaching and/or managing teams. The contribution of parents is essential to players and teams being able to take the court. All coaches and managers will need to have a vaccine pass to enter the venues/stadiums. This also applies to coaching at MBI, all coaches, managers or parents volunteering or supervising at school must have a vaccine pass to participate in a training at MBI.
Coaches and Managers to register using this link.
Responsibilities for key positions include:
Coaches
● Taking weekly team practices (either before, during, or after school)
● Attending games
● Organising parents to score
● If there is no manager, then communicating with players/parents for weekly training/games.
Managers
● Filling in for the coach if need be.
● Organising parents to score, or doing the score bench
● Please note that a manager is really a backup option to a coach. If you are 50/50, then we encourage you to coach as it is not easy finding enough coaches to fill all teams.
● Communicating with players/parents regarding games/training/availability.
If you are able to help, you will have indicated on the registration form or you can email me on: [email protected]. There is little experience needed. If you are new to the sport, then we are happy to help in any way we can. By the time grading games are finished, you will have a very good idea of what needs to be worked on and how the system works. A committed adult is a key ingredient to success, and teams won’t be able to take the court if there is not enough help. We understand that parents and players lead busy lives and we appreciate any assistance offered. Each team will be allocated a training time at school which best suits the coach and players.
Uniform:
Teams will be competing in singlets provided by the school, together with their own PE shorts. Mouthguards and suitable basketball shoes are essential. Singlets will be issued to all players after payment has been received and must be returned at the end of the season unless they continue to play in Season 2. Mouthguards are compulsory, each player needs to purchase one before the first game.
Google Classroom:
Google Classroom will also be used for students so they can refer to any basketball information given from the start
of the season. To join, students should use the code tr6ohtb. Students will need to use their school email to join.
Please let me know if you have any queries. See you courtside!
